Many of the quilt blocks in this book are not well known and rarely seen in quilts today. A great way to use up those wonderful scraps of fabric is to experiment and try new designs... as the owner of an ever increasing stock of scrap fabric I decided to recreate some of the most interesting, unique and rare quilt blocks taped in this book. If you're a quilter like myself, the patterns and directions for piecing them is quite 'old-fashioned'. We have so many new tools and techniques to piece blocks today - I will be posting the patterns along with new instructions for completing each block as a free pdf with each block I make for those that want to make them also! My goal is one block a week so watch for my 'Recipe Book' blog quilt posting starting this Sunday with the 'Little Beech Tree' designed by Ruby McKim (copyright 1931).
Little Beech Tree
Next week - a quilt block designed by a young man during the Civil War for his grandmother!!
