The holidays this year will be ushered in by the arrival of my first granddaughter... Hollie Noelle! So it is time to plan and design the baby quilt. My daughter Brandais and I spent Saturday shopping for the fabric for this one of a kind quilt! She had great ideas and with little effort we designed the quilt block perfect for using foundation piecing. Here is a sneak peek of the new baby quilt!
We loved the new line of fabrics from the designers for MODA! Brandais wanted to use patterned reds, pinks, yellows, greens and teals in this unique, modern holiday pattern. This forest of trees on a snow white backdrop will be perfect for her nursery theme. I will post pics as the quilt and baby Hollie grows!
I have made several quilts using the foundation piecing technique and love the precise end result. I just recently designed a pattern for an upcoming quilt class I'll be teaching in fall using this method. This traditional 'flying geese' pattern can be modernized with color and completed using foundation piecing, making it quick and easy to build a full size quilt in a day!
Suzanne is a NIH fellow and holds a Ph.D. in molecular virology. In addition to spending time doing viral research and teaching, she is a modern textile designer and quilter and is mom to 5 awesome kids!
