When expecting a baby of your own, a search for that special blanket is of great importance! We all know that it will become that treasure we take throughout life.
A friend of mine, Maro, and her husband Jonathan are expecting their first baby in September. At coffee one morning she brought her baby quilt that her Grandmother made for her arrival into the world. As most of these quilts are, it was worn, faded, missing stitches and above all well-loved. Wanting to restore it for her new arrival, Maro asked if it could ever be useable again? Of course! So trusting me with her treasure I am embarking on a most important restoration!
Therefore, with such care and quilter's guilt I removed the quilt stitches that her Grandmother had made with all her love and joy for Maro. To maintain the charm of her original quilt we decided not to add in missing embroidery, but to stabilize the now very thin quilt top and the embroidery that is remaining.
